Thoseghar is a fantastic destination for photography enthusiasts. If you’re passionate about capturing the beauty of nature, this spot is a must-visit. We visited on September 1st, and the experience was truly unforgettable—the scenery was stunning, offering countless opportunities for memorable shots in every direction.

Thoseghar is truly a paradise for photography lovers. We began our journey from Satara, and it took us about half an hour to reach Thoseghar. The drive itself felt heavenly—the winding roads were shrouded in thick fog and the steady monsoon rain created a mystical atmosphere that made every turn feel magical. If you plan to visit during this season, be sure to drive carefully, as the roads can get slippery and visibility might be low due to the fog.
Every time the rain paused, we’d step out of the car to capture the breathtaking scenery. The Sahyadri mountains, cloaked in lush greenery, looked spectacular with clouds and fog draped across their slopes—it was as if the mountains were wearing a soft blanket of clouds. The constant interplay between sunshine, rain, and mist made for unique photography opportunities at every moment. Surrounded by serene woodland, gushing waterfalls, and the sound of nature, it truly felt like nature at its absolute best.
As we continued our journey, we had an unexpected encounter—a group of baboons sitting together by the roadside. We stopped the car and managed to snap some amazing pictures of them, adding a wild and memorable twist to our trip.
Further along the road to Thoseghar, we passed rows of windmills dotting the landscape. If you’re interested in seeing even more, a detour to nearby Chalkewadi is a must—here, you’ll find thousands of towering windmills set against the rolling hills, creating a truly surreal view.
Our next stop rewarded us with one of the most breathtaking panoramas of the journey. With a winding river, lush greenery, and a brilliant blue sky spread before us, it was a true visual treat—perfect for capturing nature in its full glory.
Throughout the trip, I couldn’t resist taking dozens of photos of people, landscapes, and wildlife. When we finally reached the main entrance to Thoseghar Waterfalls, we found a small parking area just outside the gate (parking fee: ₹20). Entry costs are ₹20 per person, and don’t forget to carry your ID for verification.
Inside, well-made concrete paths and steps wind through the forest, leading you to the waterfall viewpoint. Many bird photographers visit this area—keep your camera ready for possible sightings! From the entrance, you can follow two routes: one towards the main, thundering waterfall, and another leading to a smaller fall and a nearby cave.
